Yonex RDS 002 Mid Plus Tennis Racquet Overview
The Yonex RDS 002 Mid Plus is the latest player's racquet offering from Yonex, and is a control frame for the intermediate to advanced player looking for stability and manuverability in a player-oriented package, albeit with a lighter, more maneuverable feel. The RDS 002 slots in between the heavier RDS 001 and the 'tweener RDS 003, offering a nice compromise of the other 2 frames. The RDS 002 still provides control and predictability with a very traditional feel and in a standard length. Think of it as a lighter-weight version of the RDS 001. The RDS 002 Mid Plus plays as though it has a larger sweetspot than its 98 square inch headsize would suggest, feeling solid yet forgiving.
The RDS 002 also introduces the Aero Box Variframe concept, which provides a more aerodynamic cross section at the 3 o'clock and 9 o'clock points on the frame. Yonex claims a 10% improvement in air flow over the frame by reducing aerodynamic drag via this new Aero Box Variframe shape.
